PC Students Partner with BC and CREL on energy project

Porterville College recently partnered with Bakersfield College, UCR CE-CERT, and the The California Renewable Energy Laboratory (CREL) on a 10-week Microgrid Data Dashboard Development Research Program.
Through the project, students explored cost savings, greenhouse gas reductions, and
data management tied to the future microgrid at BC’s Weill Institute. The program
also included a visit to UCR’s CE-CERT research center, where students connected with
graduate researchers and explored clean energy career pathways.
This collaboration offered students meaningful exposure to applied research and highlighted
the value of hands-on learning in shaping the next generation of energy innovators.
